Selecting Your Yard Ramp Usable Width

Selecting the usable width of your yard ramp is the second characteristic that should be determined. The width should be at least 15 inches wider that the widest equipment to be used on the ramp. The yard ramp is available in 70 inch and 84 inch widths. If you want the inside measurement you subtract 6 inches from the outside dimension. The 84 inch wide units fit the most applications.

Rail Car Loading Important Points to Note

• For rail car use, select the ramp width wide enough to prevent the forklift from hitting the ramp curbs as it turns into the rail car. Consult your forklift manual for radius turning capabilities.
• Measure rail car door openings to make sure the yard ramp will fit!
